Back to Brissie!!!!!

Well we finally made it back to australia, and after thirty hours of no sleep you too can look like this! While we had to while away six hours at sydney airport, Gem decided to make some new friends!
And finally back in brisbane now I've got my little cat Harry back. To claire he says "Maow"!
Well, we hope that you've enjoyed our little blog adventure. Now it's back to the boring business of brisbane. Gem's got her old job back at the royal brisbane hospital, in which she starts in early march, but in the mean time she's doing some agency shifts. Meanwhile i'm being a complete lazy bum and catching up on my long beloved xboxing. Start uni in about 2 weeks, so there will go all my fun time! Anyhoo, will put stuff on the blog if anything particularly exciting happens, but that could take some time!
Hope everyone we've met and seen overseas is doing just fabulously and will keep in contact.
See ya!
Sara and Gem xx

Fond Farewells and Frogs Legs!

With our stay in Edmonton drawing to an end what
better way to say good bye than eating amphibians
which were cooked by my uncle, the awsome amazing chef. While Gem was a little wary, Ken went off like a frog in a sock...haha.
Thanks to everyone in canada for putting us up (or putting up with us!), feeding us and keeping us warm!
It was amazing to finally catch up with you guys, or in Christian's case, meet you! We hope all of your year to come is fabulous and we can't wait to see you all in november.
Love you all heaps and see you soon!

Edmonton...

To pass the time in edmonton it would seem
that my cousins are much the same as my
family in brissie.
We watched some little one's don ice hockey
gear and chase each other with rather large
sticks...

We sat around eating oysters with Australian flags stuck in them...
We pulled weird and wonderful faces and posed in bizarre fashions...Sat in large toys, usually meant for children...Had bbqs in three foot snow...Stood around in pretty dresses and got rather tanked with my aunty and Megan...

All the usual stuff really...

Boxing day

Considering my usual experience on boxing day is sitting around (preferably in a pool), drinking icy cold beers and wondering why on earth it's soo freakin hot, last year we went tobogganing. Haha to all in australia...it was lovely and cool!

Christmas day

So chrissy came again. What else is there to say? Turkey followed by some country dancing topped off with loads of drinking...what else could a girl want?
From both of us, we hope everyone had a wonderful christmas day wherever in the world you are!

Things to do in the snow...

Among other things to do in the snow like shovelling it, sliding down on it, making snow men, playing games on it or just plain falling over in it you can also sit in a lovely warm bath followed by plunging oneself into the nearest snow then jump back into your lovely warm bath.

I have no idea why people do these kind of shenanigans
but Gem seemed to like it!

Hello Canada!

Well, we finally made it to canada where teh snow was deep, the vegemite froze and I got to meet the rest of my family.

Leaving London...boohoo!

Finally our london part of the journey came to an end. Thanks again for everyone who made it to our going away party. We'll miss all of you!!! And thanks heaps to Dave and Mel, Alex, Taeha (?) Claire, and Kieren (for a short time!) for letting us take over your living room for three weeks or so.
We had a total blast being in London and it was just amazing to catch up with Claire, Jen, Gee, Scotty, Ange, all of our new friends from mishmash and mine from King's College. We're looking forward to seeing all of you guys making the trip to sunny little bribane one day and we can repay all of the thankyous to all of you! I'd also like to see the Tom King ensemble making a debut on the brissie stages...I can help you out with all the aussie slang you may encounter in the scripts!
Miss you all and love you all!

Back to sunny ol' London

So we finally made it back to london and caught up with Natasha, Lee and the kids and fooled around at tube stations...

Last stop, Frankfurt

So our last destination in our europe trip was to Frankfurt, or more specifically Mainz to meet my step-grandfathers niece (try and explain that relationship with only the help of a poxy little phrase book...) We had a beautiful day with Heidi who showed us around her town, fed us up with some really yummy food and sent us on our way. (Thanks so much for you hospitality Heidi, we can't wait to see in Australia next year!) From here we caught our flight out and headed back to London. Ps: Claire, Jen and Gee, don't ever catch a flight from Frnkfurt-Hahn airport...yeah, it sounds cheap on the ryan air website but it's a complete pain in a a'hole to get to...I don't even know why they call it Frankfurt at all, it's ages away. And when you get there it's bloody boring...rantrantrant rave raverave....etc)

Fussen and it's crazy castle...

After crazy-town-expensive lusanne, fussen was a lovely break back into normal little towns. Yes, we could afford to eat...yay! So we went to see the neuschwanstein and holhenschwangau castles. These are the castles that Ludwig (2nd?) lived. He basically was as mad as a cut snake and decided to make a castle filled with swans, swans and even more swans. My favourite bit was just past his bedroom where he had a replica cave built. This acted as a hallway between his room to a dining room or something. T'was cool.

Lausanne? Lusurn? Lucern? Hay?

Lausanne was probably the most expensive city that we spent time in. I mean OMG...the equivalent of $10 australian for a bloody beer...strewth!!! Anyhoo, sunsets, leaping around and making moose impersonations are very cheap though :)

Frieburg

Frieburg was a pretty short stop. Basically just got there, drank some beer, walked down a black forest trail (and got hideously lost), drank some more, then left. I think that just about sums it up (and possible the majority of our trip in general!)

Stuttgart

Our next destination was Stuttgart where we were met by the wonderful Jen and Claire, drank the metres of wonderful beer, made a wonderful fire in a park (hehe firefirefire!!!) and caught up with the wonderful Julia. (Thanks again for letting all of us crash at your place!)

Sara's Birthday!!!

So the 31st of october came around again, as it's very prone to doing, and what better a way to spend the big day then running around a bloody big city! Our day started with some yummy pastries then some leaping in very pretty spots! We leapt around the statue of liberty, followed by some leaping down a very pretty walkway. Gem also took to the leaping bug and scared some pigeons... After a day of basically acting like complete silly buggers we rounded it off with a cheap bottle of champagne under the eiffel tower followed by a great dinner at a real french restaurant...yep, with snails and all!
